Why do some of your images have watermarks?
People often like to use our images – and for the most part we’re fine with that. But sometimes people* don’t ask, and ‘hotlink’ an image on their website from ours – which costs us money in bandwidth.
As it would be unfeasible for us to discover and challenge every hotlinked image of ours on the web we now watermark images with our URL.
If people want to use our images and our bandwidth the least they can do is promote us ;)
